clay Chimenea craft event
Saturday, January 17
12 to 3 pm

In this workshop you will carve, finish, and decorate your own mini chimenea (pronounced chih-mee-nay-uh) while learning about Mexican clay history + decorative arts. You may have seen a large chiminea before used to burn wood for heat or cooking outdoors. These mini chimineas are meant for a tabletop to hold a tea candle, incense, or burned organics (like palo santo or sage).
HOW IT WORKS:
Clara Sandoval, a Denver based ceramics teacher, will come with wheel thrown chiminea bodies in various shapes + colors and will guide you through carving the opening of your chiminea + adding feet to the form. After a short drying break, you will decide if you’d prefer a 2D or 3D chiminea design, with Clara guiding you through both methods. Design examples will be available to inspire you, or you can go with your own original design! After the workshop, Clara will take your chiminea to be fired and finished with glaze.
Class is $75 and sign up is available through www.Hoamsy.com, the host of this event
Cheluna RC – Tuesdays
Begun in March 2017 just three months after opening Cheluna, our run club welcomes people of all abilities to move their bodies every Tuesday, meeting up at 5:45 pm year round. Participants gather together at 5:45 before we head outside to run, walk or roll at 6 pm; choose your own distance, pace and modality, and most Tuesdays there is also an optional track workout for those looking for an extra challenge.
Reconvene afterward in our taproom for some great community, free food (potluck meal the first Tuesday monthly) and discounted beverages. We are a casual and welcoming run group for athletes of all kinds and abilities and embrace coming together weekly for a workout, shared food, delicious beer and camaraderie.
Find us on Facebook: Cheluna ¡Corre! Running Group where you can also find up to date information and connect with other Cheluna run group members.
